Traveling With A Baby By Bribing Those Around You

Reese is normally the sweetest little thing.
She is loving and kind.
She has a beautiful laugh and an adorable smile with far too many teeth for a 9 month old.
I take her all over town and we have a wonderful time together.
She is my most favorite girl in the world.
We're buds. It's true.

But... she isn't always a happy baby.

And she certainly isn't always a quiet baby. Which is normally fine by me. I'm not usually one for apologizing for my baby. She's a baby. Sometimes babies make noise shocker! But we're not usually stuck on a 5-6 hour flight across the country with unseasonably grumpy travelers. What's a stressed out mama to do? Make them goodie bags, that's what.

I knew I wanted to make goodie bags for other passengers as soon as I knew we were taking this flight. So I did what any mama would do. That's right. I scoured Pinterest for ideas and I found these awesome printables.  I loved the idea but I needed to add two little things to prevent the other passenger's ears from bleeding make the other passengers even more sympathetic to our travel plight. Two little kisses and two earplugs. Hopefully our neighbors and flight attendants will have mercy on two travel weary parents feel much more comfortable sitting near us.

The tag reads as follows:
she may be good
she may be bad
we're sorry if she makes you mad!
hope this makes your flight a little sweeter!

I made enough for both flights. I know Reese is not bad. I know I shouldn't apologize for my daughter. I hope know that I will be more stressed out about it than everyone else around me. This just puts my mind at ease.

What are your tips for traveling with little ones?

------------------------UPDATE------------------------

Reese was an absolute delight on the flight. She slept for 1 whole hour each way! We had great people who sat next to and around us, so that made it easier. We passed out one gift bag to each flight attendant, the people in front of us, behind us, and in our row as soon as we got on the plane in the hopes of easing everyone's apprehension when they saw us sit down with a baby. Everyone was so sweet, especially Kristianne. She sat in our row on the flight to the east coast. She is recently engaged, super nice, absolutely adorable, and she loved the little packages. Bribing  Travel success!

  1. I love this idea. You really need to send it into budget travel magazine, if someone hasn't already. At the beginning of each issue, people write in their travel tips on various topics, and this is a really good one!

  2. Our 7 year old baby girl is not a happy flier. The pressure change hurts her ears, but it's not like she cries for the fun of it. There are always people around who act annoyed, but thee are more who have sympathy. Praying for lots of sympathetic and understanding fellow travelers for you! Don't stress it and she won't get as stressed.

Besides, who could get annoyed with those cute baggies you made up?!

  3. I love that idea!!! So adorable. You may already know this but, her ears will most likely be popping during takeoff/landing. To help her ease the pain, bring her favorite snack or a bottle. The chewing or sucking with help the ears pop without the pain.

    I'm positive she'll be a little angel! Don't stress mama. : )

  4. What a great idea! I was a bundle of nerves the first time we flew with both kids. I think I handled it worse than the passengers around me. People were so nice!

  5. Those are so cute! What a wonderful idea .

My travel tip: nurse baby during takeoff and descent. Their little ears are super sensitive to the pressure changes, and this is usually what makes babies cry during the flight. The sucking really helps their ears adjust. Safe travels <3
