Happy Second Birthday, Reese

Today my baby girl turns two. Two. And in a month she isn't going to be the baby of the family anymore. Y'all this is doing a number on my heart. I know I mentioned it on her first birthday but Hubby and I both honestly feel like she's always been in our lives. And yet, when we think of how short her two little years on this earth have been, we just ache for more.

More tight hugs.
More kisses from her to her dad, then me, then pushing our heads together so she can see us kiss.
More hearing her say "Thank you... thank you so much"
More round round little round moon.
More spinning and twirling.
More of her precious smile.
More putting on Chapstick and saying "Soooo nice!"
More watching her brush her hair out of her face.
More watching her care for her baby dolls.
More jumping, jumping, jumping.
More refusal to wear clothes: first pants, now shirts.
More of her pretending to fall and wanting us to ask if she's ok, just so she can say "I'm Okaaaay!"
More begging to dress like a princess.
More of her sweet laugh.
More time reading her favorite books: The Very Hungry Caterpillar, Night-Night Little Pookie, The Bible (seriously she asks to read it) and pretty much anything Fancy Nancy.
More cuddles on the couch.
More morning snuggles she flips through the pictures on our phones while we try to snuggle.
More singing 'You Are My Sunshine', 'Jesus Loves Me' or her own 'Deep&Wide Minnie Mouse'
More floating in the bathtub.
More of her running out to say goodnight to me after she does her bedtime routine with daddy.
More listening to her light snore on the rare occasion she falls asleep in the car.
More pigtails.
More moments.
More years.
More time.

We are so unbelievably grateful that God has given us the huge responsibility of shepherding her heart and being her parents. Her sister is going to be born in almost exactly a month so I have this kind of heavy knowledge that her entire world is about to change and she has no idea. I want this last month to be really precious to her, and to me. I want to see her, really see her, and remember her as my sweet little baby. I know this time is so fleeting and I just want to freeze it into my memory. These, the days where she is uninhibited and free and so full of joy. The days where she hasn't been hurt or tainted in any way by the harsh realities of this world. The days where her dad and I are all she really knows. The days that in truth are trying, but completely worth it. It's amazing to see her little personality forming and to dream about who she will be in the future.

Happy Birthday my sweet little girl.
