And The Lord Blessed That

Today I sat down to write and all I could think about was my two precious little girls. When we were pregnant, on top of all our regular prayers for their health and safety, we prayed for specific character attributes for each of our girls. We got the idea from my sister-in-law and loved the idea that we could pray for something so specific that could shape their entire lives and ease this whole parenting job for us.

Before I had Reese, when I found out she was a girl, I wanted her to be strong. I wanted her to love The Lord fiercely and to not succumb to peer pressure. And I quiet foolishly accidentally prayed that she would be strong willed. Ok, before you slap me, technically I prayed that she would stand strong in her convictions and in the truth and for whats right. And The Lord blessed that. Granted, I didn't think through what this would mean for us when she was two years old, but her tenacity is one of my most favorite things about her.

Before I had Kendall, my husband said I was absolutely not allowed to pray for strong will we went another direction. I've mentioned before that I struggle with depression, and so for our little Kendi we decided to pray for joy. And The Lord blessed that. Y'all, I don't know if ever in my life I have seen a happier baby. She is seriously such a light and a pleasure to be around.

As soon as we found out we were pregnant with number 2 ok I still love that post.. am I the only one who thinks I'm funny? we decided we wanted to pray for their relationship. And so we began right away. We prayed that they would be close. We prayed that they would love one another. We prayed that they would have fun together. That they would support one another. That they could trust each other and be kind too each other. And so far, The Lord has blessed that, too.
